A CHINESE BRONZE HU-SHAPED VASE

18TH CENTURY

The ovoid body tapering towards the foot and surmounted by a gently flaring neck, cast in relief with taotie masks reserved on a key fret ground, the sides with two animal mask handles suspending loose rings, with areas of detail highlighted in gilt and inlaid silver, the base with a raised geometric design, all supported on a short spread foot, 31.2cm, 3.28kg.
