Description

A George III mahogany side table, the rectangular top above a fluted frieze, on square tapering fluted legs headed by oval paterae, with applied pierced fret brackets, 86.7cm high, 214.6cm wide, 73.3cm deep.

For a closely related side table see Sotheby's, Important English Furniture, 18th November 1994, lot 114. The table was commissioned by George Bigland for Bigland Hall, Lancashire. Entries in Gillows' ledger reveal that they supplied furniture for Bigland Hall throughout the 1780s.
