Description

λ An 18th century French boulle marquetry and ebony casket, of sarcophagus shape, with gilt bronze mounts, decorated with engraved cut brass on a red tortoiseshell ground, with scrolls, swirls, leaves and flowers, the hinged lid with a central musician figure flanked by birds, revealing a silk lined interior, 13.2cm high, 32.5cm wide, 27cm deep.
