A late 19th century Kashmiri lacquer and polychrome decorated papier-mâché writing box, the hinged lid painted with a courtly garden scene with figures in various pursuits, with a central seated Shah, the body with further figures and animals and hunting scenes, the interior originally with a hinged writing slope and with divisions for pens and inkwells, 15.2cm high, 48cm wide, 25cm deep.
