Description

A George IV silvergilt large snuff box, of shallow oblong form with reeded sides foliate thumbpiece and a central engine-turned panel on the cover bordered by various hunting scenes, the cover interior engraved with a jockey and racehorse and inscribed "FROM WILLIAM SHARPE ESQ. The Owner of OSWALD. Winner of the OMNIPARITY 1837 & 1838", the cover lip inscribed "ROBERT LAING", by John Linnit, London 1825, 3.4in (8.6cm) wide, overall, 5.5oz.
