Description
λ A mid-19th century French burr walnut and rosewood bureau, the raised top with a bank of six drawers, one with a brass escutcheon, inscribed 'D'INVENTION GTTE DUGT', with a single key locking mechanism that locks all the drawers and the writing compartment, above a hinged pull-out secrétaire inlaid with brass, with kingwood banding and a gilt tooled leather writing surface, with pigeonholes, above three drawers, the right drawer with a sliding cover, divisions and a lift-out tray and with a later 'S. MORDAN & CO' lock, on faceted baluster legs united by a shaped 'X' stretcher with a lobed finial, 122.4cm high, 140cm wide, 72cm deep.
