A GANDHARAN GREY SCHIST FIGURE OF BUDDHA
C.2ND CENTURY AD
Depicted seated in a meditative pose on a raised pedestal, wearing jewellery and loose flowing robes draped over one shoulder, with his hair piled high in a chignon, his head framed by a simple aureola, together with a later wood stand, 37cm. (2)
Provenance: from an English private collection, acquired in India in the 1930s.
