19TH CENTURY

The tall body of each painted in iron-red with Zhong Kui riding on horseback in a procession, the vanquisher of ghosts surrounded by his quelled demons carrying gongs, lanterns, parasols and prisoners, with areas of detail picked out in black and gilt, the cylindrical necks decorated with bands of key fret, diaper and ruyi-heads, with geometric patterns encircling the mouthrim, 46.4cm.
