THREE CHINESE EMBROIDERED SILK ROBES AND A FAN

LATE QING DYNASTY

One robe decorated with dragons amongst stylised clouds in gold thread on a dark blue ground, another pale blue and embroidered in silk thread with peony, prunus and melons, the third dark blue with medallions enclosing garden scenes amidst floral sprays, the fan formed from many peacock tail feathers, together with a photograph signed by Dame Eva Turner and two signed programmes for her 90th birthday celebrations, 128cm across, 145cm long max. (4)

Provenance: from the collection of Dame Eva Turner (1892-1990). Turner was an internationally renowned English operatic soprano and she was the subject of the biographical television documentary This Is Your Life on two occasions, in 1959 and 1983.
