A WOODBLOCK PRINT IN JAPANESE STYLE BY PAUL BINNIE (1967-)
HEISEI PERIOD, 21ST CENTURY
Entitled 'Cloud Shadows, Grand Canyon', from the series Meishou to no Tabi ('Travels with the Master') and depicting the famous American landmark, signed to the lower left corner, numbered 3 from a series of 100 and with a red artist's seal, dai oban yoko-e, 45.5cm x 63cm.
Paul Binnie is a Scottish artist whose work is based on traditional woodblock printmaking. Binnie trained in Japan with a master printer and developed a shin-hanga ('new print') style close to aesthetics found in early to mid-20th century Japanese prints.
