A JAPANESE WOOD NETSUKE OF A THWARTED RAT CATCHER
MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
The emaciated man kneeling down, turning his head and grimacing in surprise as a large rat clambers over his shoulder, a square wooden box before him and with a mace in his right hand, his eyes and the rodent's inlaid, 5.6cm max.
