A converted .577 percussion gun, originally of service type (P1853), barrel reduced to 27 in. and bored smooth, brass bead fore sight, original ladder back sight, sold-out-of-service mark, border engraved and crowned lock, butt with Pimlico and sold-out-of-service marks, brass butt plate with 'V' over 'L D 1' and '229' engraved to the tang, jag head ram rod.
