A 19th century oil on board coaching panel, painted with the coat of arms for Major General Sir Robert John Harvey of Mousehold, Norfolk (d.1860), 48 x 54cm, in a moulded giltwood frame.
Major General Sir Robert John Harvey (1785-1860) of Mousehold, Norwich, Norfolk, was an accomplished General of the Peninsular War. He had a distinguished military career and was made a knight of the Order of the Tower and Sword by the King of Portugal. The Prince Regent awarded him a knighthood in 1817 and he was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1831.
