Melanesia

including a one-piece turtleshell, 7cm long, two one-piece shell from Uki, Ulawa, the smaller with incised lines, 2.5cm and 5.3cm long, three shell and turtleshell, one with shell beads, one with coloured glass beads, 5.6cm, 7.5cm and 7.6cm, and a Caroline Islands two-part shell and fibre fish hook, 9cm long. (7)

With a handwritten note stating FISH HOOKS. PORT MORESBY H.M.S Diamond, 1885/9.

H.M.S. Diamond was an Amethyst-class corvette built for the Royal Navy. In October 1881 she commissioned service on the Australia Station.
