the thirty hour brass birdcage movement with an anchor escapement and outside countwheel striking on a bell, the eleven inch brass dial with a silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, the centre engraved with a coastal scene with a ship and buildings and signed 'Peter Bower Redlinch', with Rococo spandrels, the hood with a pierced frieze above a plain trunk and plinth
