A RARE ENGRAVED PERPETUAL CALENDAR PAPER INSTRUMENT BY JOHN SELLER

hand-coloured copper line engraving, the top with a globe signed 'Io Seller Execudit', with the sun and moon in the top corners above the days of the week with their planetary symbol and with two dials for the days and months which are rotated by a wooden rundle on the back, surrounded by classical figures representing the days of the week, Apollo for Sunday, Luna / Diana for Monday and Venus with her mirror for Friday, with a central cartouche with figures representing death and time lost, above a winged heart pierced by a sword, in a glazed ebonised fruitwood moulded frame
