A CHINESE CELADON GLAZED PEAR-SHAPED VASE
QING DYNASTY
The exterior carved with large stylised lotus sprays beneath bands of ruyi-heads and upright pendant leaves, with two applied elephant head-shaped handles to the shoulder, all covered with a pale green glaze, the base with a six character Qianlong mark in underglaze blue, 28.7cm.
Provenance: from the collection of MME Calliope Sotirades (1910-84), who collected internationally between the 1930s and 1980s, and then bequeathed to her godson.
