A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE VASE
REPUBLIC PERIOD
Painted with the poet Tao Yuanming in a garden, his attendant holds a basket and points towards blossoming chrysanthemum, the tall flaring neck flanked by two archaistic handles, with an inscription reading Yuanming ai ju, the base with a four character mark reading mei shu xue xiao, 22.9cm.
Provenance: from an English private collection acquired in the 1930s.
