Ivory Coast / Nigeria
tapa with black leopard spots painted to the front and back, early 20th century,
89cm high, 42cm wide.
This poncho is thought to have belonged to the Leopard Society. An all male secret cult that practised cannibalism and ravaged Western Africa from the 1870's to the early 20th century.
