Two medals to Surgeon Captain (later Major) Gordon Travers Birdwood, Indian Medical Service: India 1849-95, clasp: Waziristan 1894-5 (Surgn. Lieut: G. T. Birdwood I.M.S.), engraved running script, good very fine; India General Service 1895-1902, Victoria, 3 clasps: Punjap Frontier 1897-98, Samana 1897, Tirah 1897-98 (Surgn Captn G. J. Birdwood I.M.S.), nearly extremely fine. [2]

Commissioned Surgeon Lieutenant, 29th July 1893; Surgeon Captain, 29th July 1896; Major, 30th January 1905. Also Civil and Principal, Medical School, Agra. Served on the North West Frontier in the Arbor Expedition of 1894, and with the Waziristan Expedition of 1894-95. Took part in the operations in Samana and in the Kurram Valley, August and September 1897.
