A British 1857 pattern Volunteer Royal Engineers officer's presentation sword, straight 1892 type blade with etched decoration including the dedication: "PRESENTED TO CAPTAIN J.P. CAPELL/ COMMANDING F. COMPANY (WESTON S. MARE) 1ST DEVON & SOMERSET/ VOLUNTEER ROYAL ENGINEERS/ BY HIS OFFICERS, N.C.O.'S & SAPPERS AS A MARK OF THEIR ESTEEM, DECR' 1893"; regulation gilt brass hilt, sword knot, steel scabbard.
nb. This officer was awarded the Jubilee Medal 1897 in silver.
