A North or Central European side axe, broad asymmetrical-section head set at a slight angle to the socket, the back edge formed into a scroll at the top, punched and incised decoration including a dotted border and leaf details; long rectangular-section wooden haft with bevelled edges, the lower part studded; 18th century, overall length 114 cm (45 in.)
