Description

A fine and scarce London made Colt model 1851 pocket revolver in original case with accessories: .310 calibre hexagonal barrel 4 in. with 'ADDRESS. COL: COLT. LONDON' impressed to the top flat, five shot cylinder with stagecoach scene, well figured walnut grips, blued and with colour hardened frame, highly embellished with scroll engraving and with silver plated grip frame, all matching parts with serial number 4130 repeated on the major components, London Company proof marks to the barrel lug and cylinder; fitted mahogany case lined in red baize and with instruction label inside the lid; accessories comprising: blued two-cavity bullet mould marked 'COLT'S PATENT', combined nipple key and turnscrew, cleaning rod, cap tin, and powder flask supplied by James Dixon & Sons.

Established in 1853, Colt's London factory remained in production only until 1857. Revolvers were produced in a variety of degrees of finish - the present example being notably high grade.
