SEVEN CHINESE ENAMELLED PORCELAIN PLATES

18TH CENTURY

Comprising: two large famille rose plates painted with baskets of flowers surrounded by diaper, a famille verte dish decorated with a roundel enclosing precious objects surrounded by panels of various blossoms, a famille verte dish with a bird perched amidst peony, a small wucai plate painted with cartouches containing butterflies and cranes, and two enamelled and gilt-decorated dishes with designs after Maria Sybille Merian, six with paper labels for the Fonthill Heirlooms, 40cm. Provenance: from the collection of Alfred Morrison (1821-1897) and thence by descent to Lord Margadale of Islay, at Fonthill House, Tisbury, Wiltshire.
