A JAPANESE ARITA BOTTLE VASE
EDO PERIOD OR LATER, 19TH CENTURY OR LATER
The gallipot-shaped body decorated in underglaze blue with the monogram 'VOC' for the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (Dutch East India Company) framed by a crown of leaves and flowers, on a celadon-grey ground, the base with the VOC monogram, 22cm.
Provenance: formerly a private collection in Bath, Somerset.
