Description

A JAPANESE PADDED-SILK PANEL, OSHI-E

MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

Depicting many figures engaged in sericulture, the different stages of silk production illustrated, with workers picking up silk worms from mulberry trees, others weighing cocoons and two women weaving silk, the design rendered in folded paper and silk on the painted background, signed Sekka to the side and with a red seal mark, framed and glazed, 55cm x 89cm.
