A JAPANESE LACQUER DOCUMENT BOX AND COVER, FUBAKO
EDO PERIOD, 18TH CENTURY
Of typical rectangular form, decorated in gold hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, and kirikane on a black roiro ground and with details in silver, depicting a kaleidoscope of butterflies amongst scrolling tendrils, the sides with metal rings attached to butterfly-shaped mounts, 7cm x 8cm x 24.5cm. (2)
