Two similar William IV silver seven and five bar toast racks,

by Paul Storr, London 1836,

shaped arched form, central carrying handle, on shaped rectangular bases, on four scroll feet, the undersides inscribed 'New Club, Edinburgh', lengths 15.4cm and 14.2cm, approx. weight 22.7oz. (2)

The New Club in Edinburgh is a private social club in the New Town area of city. It was founded in 1787 and is Scotland's oldest club. The club occupied premises on St Andrew Square from 1809 until 1837, when it moved to purpose-built rooms on Princes Street.
