MEIJI PERIOD, 1868-1912

Of circular form, the lid richly decorated with many flowers including chrysanthemum, peonies, daisies, sakura and other blossoms amongst foliage, with details highlighted in colourful enamels, a firefly, a bee and a praying mantis amongst the vegetation, all reserved on a gilt ground, the bottom half of the box incised with a band of further blooms, the base signed Shomin, 7.8cm.
