inlaid with tulips, birds, flowers and leaves, the top with a moulded edge and with coromandel banding, above two short and three long graduated holly banded drawers, the sides with further marquetry panels, on later bun feet

Condition Report

Overall this has had some restoration at some stage, with old wormholes visible. Top: old veneer splits and cracks with some repairs. Some old chips and losses to inlay, with some replacements and repairs and replacements to ground. Some patch repairs to banding. A small chip to right edge of top. Sides: old wormholes visible. Old splits to veneers on panels. Old repairs and replacements. Some minor losses. Repairs to banding. Old wear and minor degradation to backboards. Drawers: they run fairly well. Linings run side to side and are oak. Later handles and escutcheons and locks. Fronts have been cleaned and restored also. Some old worm. Minor cracks to mouldings. Feet later. The whole has a slight wobble. But overall a very attractive and rare chest in restored usable condition, with no major damages or losses.
