the brass eight day movement with four turned pillars and bell shaped plates, with a platform lever escapement, striking the glass bell domed cover, the backplate inscribed 'Mappin & Webb Ltd London' and 'Serial No. 032', the dial with a visible clock mechanism and a silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals and pierced hands, the glass cover with a lattice cut border and a brass carrying handle, on a mahogany base with a rope-twist gilt metal moulding, with a brass plaque inscribed 'Maritime England 1982', with winding key
