λ A PAIR OF JAPANESE WOOD, LACQUER AND IVORY NETSUKE

MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

modelled as two sambaso dancers, the men wearing typical konsaki eboshi mitres with hinomaru red dots, one holding suzu bells whilst the other raises both hands behind his back, both with movable heads and tongues, some details highlighted with mother of pearl and coral inlays (2)
