An Akan memorial head
Ghana
terracotta, with pursed lips and flared nostrils, coffee bean eyes and scarifications to the temples, the upswept coiffure with applied beads to the front and back, the back with incised linear detailing, the top previously with surmounts, the whole with the remains of a grey wash glaze, the back of the neck with handwritten collection number 08391, late 18th / 19th century,
20.5cm high, on a stand. (2)
