A gold, enamel and metal 'stars and stripes' brooch by Cartier, c1940, the upwardly curving star-shaped frames of copper-coloured metal centered by flared 'en tremblant' segments applied with red, white and blue enamel in an American flag motif, surmounted by emblems of gold eagles, the medals commemorating 'Friends of Soldiers & Sailors, New York State,' signed Cartier, U.S. Pat 2-220-442, 4.5cm wide
