A pair of early 19th century 'poissarde' earrings, probably French, of gold filigree stylised floral design, 5cm high
Poissarde earrings are based on a design originally favoured by French 'fish wives'. The 'poissarde' (fish wives) wore them in base metal, which were then copied by the French aristocracy in gold.
