Description

TWO CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE 'BIRDS' PENDANTS
QING DYNASTY
One carved in openwork with a pair of pheasants facing each other, they surround a shaped panel enclosing the characters tong xin, with a peony flowerhead below, the other pendant decorated in relief with two stout birds beneath a blooming lotus, with the characters ji xiang to the reverse, 5.8cm and 5.4cm. Provenance: from the collection of Wing Commander F W Hilton (d.1990s), and thence by descent.
