AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF JAPANESE RETICULATED IMARI DISHES

EDO PERIOD, 1690-1730

The octagonal bodies decorated in underglaze blue, gilt, red, green and black enamels, each with a large shishi to the well prancing amongst peonies, the cavetto and rim with alternating panels enclosing further lion dogs, flowering prunus trees and acanthus leaves, each side with a circular medallion with brocade patterns in openwork, each 28.9cm.
