A JAPANESE BLUE AND WHITE HIRADO TOKKURI

MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

The sake bottle with a bulbous body moulded with three irregular indentations, raised on a short foot and with a tall neck; painted in underglaze blue with the Shochikubai (the Three Friends of Winter, pine, prunus and bamboo); the base with paper collection labels for the Tomkinson collection no.306, and another for D.M.Bolton London, in a tomobako wood box, 17.2cm. (2)

Provenance: formerly in the collection of Michael Tomkinson (1841-1921), and then the collection of Derek M. Bolton, London.
