MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY
The tall rectangular bodies decorated with two sides featuring buildings in mountainous river landscapes rendered en grisaille, the other two sides painted in a style reminiscent of Chinese famille rose decoration, one with an insect flying over a basket of grapes and vines, another with fruiting branches of pomegranates, the last two painted with small crabs crawling by tables laden with an incense burner and a tea kettle, with flowers in vases beside them, both jardinières raised on four short feet and signed Dai Nihon Kinzan sei, both 13cm.
