A JAPANESE IRON KO-KATCHUSHI TSUBA
LATE KAMAKURA/ EARLY MUROMACHI PERIOD, 14TH CENTURY
Of circular shape, decorated in openwork with a design of a chrysanthemum flowerhead, unsigned, with Hozon Tosogu (Sword fitting Worthy of Preservation) certificate no.4005530 issued by the Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai (The Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword), dated 1st July 2014, in a kiri box, 7.9cm. (3)

The ko-katchushi name refers to an early category of tsuba produced by katchushi (armor makers) during the late Kamakura (1185-1333) and early Muromachi (1333-1573) Period.
