A PAIR OF JAPANESE CLOISONNE VASES

MEIJI PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY

The baluster bodies with elongated necks and raised on short circular feet, decorated with an abundance of flowerheads and medallions enclosing depictions of blossoms and butterflies, on a ground of shippo-tsunagi coin-shaped patterns, with bands of spirals, scales, scrolling tendrils and chrysanthemums, both 24.6cm. (2)
