TWO LARGE WOOD NETSUKE OF SHISHI
EDO AND MEIJI PERIODS, 18TH AND 19TH CENTURIES
The first lion dog depicted on an octagonal plinth, each side with an inscription; the beast bares its fangs in a snarl as a multitude of small chidori birds perch on its back, signed underneath; the second shishi sitting on its haunches and scratching its ear with its hind leg, unsigned, 4.2cm and 5.5cm respectively.
