A CHINESE CELADON JADE PEAR-SHAPED VASE AND A SPINACH-GREEN JADE VASE AND COVER

MING AND QING DYNASTY

The pear-shaped vase carved with a rocky landscape rich with with pine, prunus, bamboo, flowers and lingzhi, all raised on a flared foot, the spinach green vase decorated with taotie masks and pendant leaves, with ruyi-heads and key fret to the cover, together with a wood stand which suspends the vase's handle, 22.5cm and 22cm overall. Provenance: formerly a private collection, London, formed c.1959-1963. Purchased from Chuen Koo Chai Dealers in Ancient Chinese Arts & Curio, Hong Kong, on 16th November 1955. A copy of the invoice is available. A certificate of identity for the spinach-green vessel dated 6th December 1963 from The Curios, Furniture & Miscellaneous Utensils & Hardware Merchants & Employees Association, Hong Kong & Kowloon, is also available. Lots 79-84 and 692-694 are all from the same collection.
