FOUR CHINESE JADE ARCHER'S RINGS AND A BOWENITE SNUFF BOTTLE

LATE QING DYNASTY

One archer's ring carved in white jade, another in pale celadon, the smallest worked in yellow jade, the fourth in celadon jade, each with a plain cylindrical body, the snuff bottle incised with lines of calligraphy, the base with a ten character mark for the collection of the hall Xing You Heng Tang, 8.1cm max. (5)

Provenance: from the collection of Mary Colinet (née Skiotis), and thence by descent. Mary Colinet was born in Beijing on 20th August 1928. She married her husband Paul Colinet in Tianjin in September 1947 and later left Tianjin for France in 1953. Mary collected Chinese art and antiques, particularly during the period between 1964 and 1975 when she lived in Hong Kong. Mary spoke Greek as her first language and was also proficient in Mandarin, English and French.
