A CHINESE WOOD FIGURE OF AN ASCETIC LUOHAN
LATE QING DYNASTY
The emaciated figure seated resting his left arm on a rock, with his ribs and spine clearly defined, he clasps a string of prayer beads in one hand, with a branch of peaches and a fly whisk at his side, all raised on an openwork base formed as gnarled wood, 16cm across. (2)
Provenance: from an English private collection, West Yorkshire, formed in the 1970s and 1980s.
