A WILLIAM AND MARY KINGWOOD AND SEAWEED MARQUETRY CUSHION FRAMED WALL MIRROR

IN THE MANNER OF GERRIT JENSEN, LATE 17TH / EARLY 18TH CENTURY

the rectangular bevelled plate within a leaf border and panels of finely inlaid seaweed marquetry, with a conforming outer border and a moulded edge

This mirror is veneered partially in kingwood. In the late 17th / early 18th century kingwood was known as 'princeswood' and was highly prized.
