A pair of George III silver regimental tablespoons, The York Rangers of Upper Canada,

Old English pattern, the terminal with the regimental markings of the York Rangers and engraved 'Follow The Sun' and 'York Rangers', length 22.3cm, approx. weight 4.5oz. (2)
Provenance: a Private Collection of Regimental Silver.
The York Rangers Militia of Upper Canada was raised in 1803, by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Stephenson of the 1st Battalion the 5th (or Northumberland) Regiment of Foot. This was mainly for garrison duties. They were named after Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany, Commander-in-Chief of the Army. The town of York in Upper Canada became Toronto in 1834.
