Description
λAn 18th century silver portrait snuff box,
the mark partially obscured, probably Belgian,
oval form, the hinged cover engraved with an armorial and inscribed 'SOUBS L'OMBRE DE SES ALLIES MAMUCHE, the interior with a portrait miniature of a gentleman and lady on ivory, some water damage, gilded interior, length 8.5cm, approx. weight 3oz.
The arms are possibly those of Mamuchet, of Picardy with Greietens in pretence.
