A GEORGE IV NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER

worked with coloured wools on a coarse linen ground, with an alphabet, numerals and with initials, possibly for family members in Scottish style, above a virtuous verse and Adam and Eve with the Tree of Knowledge, with onlooking birds, animals, sun and moon and butterflies, signed and dated 'Jane Parkin Aged 14 Years 1822 Redworth', in a later glazed ebonised frame
