A kunzite, diamond and cultured pearl necklace by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co., 1980's, the cross-shaped pendant is pave-set with round brilliant-cut diamonds and suspends a large fancy-cut rutilated kunzite weighing 715cts in platinum and gold, on a single-row cultured pearl necklace with a diamond-set cross clasp, signed Paloma Picasso and Tiffany & Co., pendant 8cm high, necklace 42cm

At 715 carats, this kunzite is a particularly large stone. The Smithsonian Museum in New York has a spectacular unmounted example of 880 carats which is thought to be the largest faceted specimen in the world. The Smithsonian also have a 396ct kunzite which, like lot 528, is mounted in a pendant on a cultured pearl necklace and designed by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co. The kunzite in lot 528 is believed to be the largest mounted quality example in the world.
